Below is an up-to-date privacy policy for Sniffie Omnibus Pricing Application (“the Omnibus App”). It was last updated on 14th November 2023.

Sniffie - The pricing automation company

1. Introduction

The Omnibus App is an app that collects your store’s pricing history and shows the 30-day lowest price and, if needed, price history.

This privacy policy explains what the Omnibus App is and what it does. The main purpose of this privacy policy is to ensure all Omnibus App end users understand that we as a service provider truly care about your privacy and will make all in our effort to tell you how your personal data is collected, stored and used. If you do not accept this privacy policy, please do not use this website or the Omnibus App any longer.

This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their ‘Personally Identifiable Information’ (PII) is being used online. PII, as used in US privacy law, EU GDPR policy, and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.

Please read carefully our privacy policy to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website.

2. What is the Omnibus App

The Omnibus App is an application that collects your store’s price history for all products and enables store administrators to display the 30-day lowest price for each product, when said products are discounted (configurable). The 30-day lowest price includes discount codes and the Omnibus period (lowest prior price timeframe and campaign length) can be extended and adjusted. The Omnibus App also includes a theme extension code snippet for your theme to visualize the 30-day lowest price and price history in your store. The Omnibus App is hosted in the EU.

3. What is personal data?

Personal data refers to any information that can be directly or indirectly linked to you and thus makes it possible to identify you. This would include for example your name, your email, your address, your phone number, and your IP address.

Information other than described above we may consider non-personal. This said, we take all feasible precautions to ensure your collected personal and non-personal data is safeguarded. All information exchange between you and the Omnibus App is always encrypted via HTTPS (TLS / SSL) technology, and all data is encrypted at rest, when stored to a database.

4. What personal and non-personal data do we collect from the people that use the Omnibus App

The Omnibus App does not collect personal or non-personal data, other than the store details (store email, address, point of contact) provided by the platform.

The Omnibus App may save your store details to third party softwares’, which are accessed and operated by Sniffie, such as our Customer Support tool (Intercom), so that our own personnel can be in contact with you and support your use. When you install the Omnibus App, you consent your store’s contact details (i.e. point of contact’s name, phone number, email address) to be recorded automatically to Intercom, as well as your personal contact details, if those are provided by the platform, at the time of requesting us for support. This information is accessible by Sniffie personnel only.

As the Omnibus App offers the ability to chat with Sniffie personnel via Intercom chat, should you choose to chat with Sniffie personnel, the chat logs will be retained at Intercom in Intercom’s EU data centers.

5. When do we collect information

We collect information from you when you install the Omnibus App or when a user enters personal data in some of the forms or requests support via chat (as explained in Section 4).

6. How do we get the information about you in the first place

We learn and get data from and about you when:

  1. a) you willingly give it to us directly (e.g., when you enter your information in a contact form or start a chat with Sniffie personnel);
  2. b) we collect it automatically for logging purposes as you visit the Omnibus App;
  3. c) you request support via phone, email or Intercom for the Omnibus App or out other services.

6.1 Opting out from your data being collected

If you do not want your personal data to be added to Sniffie’s Intercom, do not enter any information to Sniffie’s Intercom chat. If you have entered your personal details to Intercom and want them removed from Sniffie’s Intercom, you can leave a request in Sniffie’s Intercom chat to have your PII removed.

If you have subscribed to Sniffie’s public newsletter in the confirmation email you receive after submitting a contact form, you can remove your subscription at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email. If you are unable to do so for any reason whatsoever, please contact Sniffie support to remove your information from the newsletter platform.

You may opt-out from automatic Google Analytics by installing an opt-out plugin by Google via instructions on this page. Alternatively, you can use a browser add-on such as NoScript Security Suite for Firefox or uMatrix for Google Chrome to disable all network requests and JavaScript execution to any domains by default and only enable content for specific domains you want to.

In addition, there are other tracking-blocking softwares that can be configured to block certain domains such as Google Analytics, Intercom etc. One of the better ones is uBlock Origin (Firefox / Chrome), another one is Electronic Frontier Fundation’s Privacy Badger.

Furthermore, browsing this website in Incognito (Chrome) / Private Browsing (Firefox) / Private Browsing (Safari) mode will automatically disable most of the tracking.

7. How do we use your personal data

The main purpose of collecting your personal data is to ensure that we are able to give you sufficient customer support.

We may use the personal data available for us, to monitor the Omnibus App’s usage to improve its design, user experience, features, functionality and content.

We may also use your personal data to identify and mitigate causes of malignant behavior toward the Omnibuss App.

8. How do we protect your personal data

The Omnibus App is regularly updated and scanned on a regular basis for security and known vulnerabilities to ensure that the use of the Omnibus App is as safe as possible. All connections are secured with HTTPS (i.e. TLS / SSL) both between you and the Omnibus App, and any and all possible third-party service providers. No data exchange will occur without a secured connection.

The Omnibus App backend and databases are only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential (such as Sniffie Tech personnel).

We implement a variety of security measures when a user enters, submits, or accesses information to maintain the safety of their personal data. 

We do not give, sell or offer the data to anyone. In case of a crime or a suspicion of a crime, at the request of a law enforcement personnel, we may provide access to the Omnibus App user information from our databases, as required by law.

All data at Sniffie is hosted from the EU.

9. Third Party Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with an advance notice and you will give us your consent. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.

10. Third party links and services

The Omnibus app uses Google Analytics for visitor tracking to improve the site experience. The right to use other Google services is reserved, where it does not contradict the terms provided in this policy about the data being collected, and its use. Read more about Google’s privacy policy here.

The Omnibus App may also have a Google Ads retargeting pixel provided by Google and Facebook retargeting pixel provided by Facebook. Retargeting pixels collect and store data on people who have clicked and visited our website through our online advertisement we have paid for. Clicking such an ad creates a retargeting list where you might later receive Sniffie advertisements based on your interests. If you want to opt-out of these you can use NAI Consumer Op-Out service to opt-out from different third-party vendor’s use of cookies. You can also use these guidelines to opt-out of Google’s use of cookies by following these guidelines.

The Omnibus App may also have Microsoft Clarity in parts of the website for analytics purposes.

The Omnibus App uses Cloudflare for DNS services and caching. Some information about your visit to The Omnibus App is thus automatically sent to Cloudflare.


10.1 Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that may be stored on the hard drive of your computer when you access The Omnibus App. A “session cookie” expires immediately when you end your session (i.e., close your browser). A “persistent cookie” stores information on the hard drive so when you end your session and return to the same website at a later date, the cookie information is still available. You can clear persistent cookies in your browser privacy tab.

When you visit The Omnibus App, we may use both a session and a persistent cookie. These cookies may contain information (such as a unique user ID) that is used to track your usage of our App. Your email address is only saved in this cookie if you register with us. Cookies are only set to your computer when you consent to our use of cookies.


10.2 Pixel Tags

A pixel tag (also known as a web beacon) is a small string of code that represents a clear graphic image and is often used in conjunction with a cookie. A pixel tag allows us to capture certain additional types of information about a visitor’s actions on a web site, such as a visitor’s cookie number, the time, date, duration and number of page views, a description of the page where the tag is placed and details about any items that were purchased. Pixel tags help us analyze our customers’ online behavior and measure the effectiveness of our App and our advertising. We work with Google and Facebook that help us track, collect and analyze this information. Pixel tags are not set unless you give us your consent.

The Omnibus App has a chat service provided by Intercom. Intercom’s privacy policy is available here. We use Intercom’s EU data hosting, so data is only retained in the EU.

Opting out from any of these services is described in Section 6.1 of this Privacy Policy.

11. GDPR Compliance

All our customers and the Omnibus App users, regardless of the country of origin, are treated with the equal right to have similar protections as all EU citizens.

Sniffie Software only uses external services that comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) in a fashion that complies with all EU data protection regulations. Most user-related analytics are based on an obfuscated id, which cannot be connected to the user in person. Some user analytics may be related to personal data you have willingly provided us via contact forms or a chat.

You have the right to check what kind of personal data we have collected about you. When requested by you, we will modify, remove or supplement any unnecessary, incorrect, incomplete or outdated personal data. When you want to remove any data that you have provided to us, all your personal details are overwritten by obfuscation and no connection to your personal information can no longer be made.

Sniffie Software stores all data within the EU area in data centers scattered across different geographical regions. All connections between you, the user, and Sniffie are always encrypted. All data storage backups are also stored in the EU area in a separate cold data storage. All user details are handled with the utmost care and with current security practices recommended by security experts.

Sniffie ensures that any third-party services used to provide the Omnibus App are GDPR compatible and used in a GDPR compatible fashion.

Sniffie employs certain Subprocessors to carry out a range of tasks related to the processing of information data.

Sniffie’s GDPR data protection officer (DPO) is Niko Naakka.
